On the occasion of World Environment Day celebration 2024, the Chennai Forest Division conducted the following activities in Pallikaranai Marshland Interpretation Centre.
- Cleanup activity: 35 college students along with Tamil Nadu State Wetland Authority underwent a mass clean up drive in Pallikaranai Marshland and collected 300kg+ waste.
- Tree plantation: The same students and TNSWA officials participated and planted native species 'Panai' on the bunds of Marshland.
- Awareness pledge taken.
- Session on 'Significance of marshland in protecting the ecosystem' by District Forest Officer, Chennai division and Forest Range Officer, Pallikaranai Range.
- Green Fellow gave insights on the TNGCC three missions and the role of volunteers in those missions. Also, 'Wetland Mitra' registration was mentioned to the participants.
- Participation certifications provided to all participants.
