Nanjarayan Bird Sanctuary is located in Tiruppur District and covers an area of 125.86.50 ha. The lake got its name from the fact that it was repaired and restored by King Nanjarayan who was ruling the region many centuries ago The Sanctuary lies in the Central Asian Flyway and is an important breeding and foraging site for both resident and migratory birds.
